FAQs (frequently asked questions)

As a new member or prospective member you may have a few questions or maybe a lot—that’s OK. Below are some of the most  commonly asked questions. If you have additional questions please call the club at (530) 272-7676 or click contact us.

How do I know if Monster Gym is right for me?
You won’t know until you try it. That’s why we offer a FREE One Week Trial Membership to Monster Gym. Come meet our staff, hang out with our members, take a Getting Started session with a certified fitness trainer or try some of our group fitness classes. At the end of 7 days, if we haven’t earned your business, then we don’t deserve to have you as a member. No strings attached, no fine print – it’s that simple. Monster Gym also offers a 20 day comfort guarantee after you buy your membership. Come find out why Monster Gym is truly the best club in town!

How do I get started on an exercise program?
Everyone should get great results from a fitness program but many people aren’t quite sure how to start or what to do. Monster Gym offers Getting Started, a private one hour session ($25) with a certified fitness trainer who will show you how to use the cardio and strength equipment and how to develop a safe and effective, self-paced fitness program. You can also schedule a complimentary personal consultation with one of our nationally certified personal trainers or take a group fitness class.

Is there a dress code?
You won’t find a lot of spandex and muscle shirts at the Monster Gym, so dress comfortably. Appropriate workout attire is required to use the facilities and to participate in the programs. Jeans and cutoffs are not permitted. Work boots or shoes with cleats are not permitted  because they damage the floors and equipment. Clothing with offensive slogans and/or insufficient coverage is prohibited. Shirts are required at all times in the workout areas.  The use of heavy perfumes or colognes is discouraged; however, we all appreciate a good deodorant!

Lockers, TVs, Music & Wireless Internet
We provide lockers for day use. Please bring your own lock to secure your items in your locker. We can not be responsible for lost or stolen items. Car keys may be hung on the key board located upstairs on the main exercise floor just to the right of the drinking fountain. We have many TVs located in both the cardio and strength areas. The audio is transmitted via FM radio signal and can be heard using a FM Walkman type radio with head phones - digital works best. The front desk staff can change TV stations for you. We play middle of the road classic rock from a digital satellite service at low volume. We don’t play hard rock, disco, rap or elevator music. You are welcome to bring your own ipod to listen to your favorite music. Wireless internet is available at no charge and can be used to check e-mail, surf the net or even listen to NPR. Please check with front desk for instructions/password to log onto our system.

What if I have questions about my membership?
For club related questions please inquire at the front desk. For fitness program questions, please contact the fitness director. For membership or billing related questions, please click member service.

Can I add a friend or family member to my membership?
Of course, another adult member or youth may be added by paying a simple processing fee and monthly dues. Monthly billing must be conducted through a single bank account. Please contact the front desk or member service.

Can I freeze or cancel my membership?
Sure, you can freeze your monthly dues for a minimum of 2 months or for as long as you like for $8/mo. Although we hope you never cancel your membership we know folks move, get hurt or simply move on. You can cancel your monthly membership anytime for any reason by contacting the front desk and completing Cancelation Form (signature required).  In order to not be billed for the following month you need to cancel prior to the 25th of the month. If you purchased a paid in full or annual membership you may buyout the membership for a flat fee of $99.

Do you offer a member referral program?
We offer the best member referral program of any gym anywhere—at least as far as we know. We call it, Work Out for FREE. For each person you refer who joins, you receive $5 off your monthly dues for every month that he/she remains a member. Refer 2 people and receive $10 off your monthly membership dues. Refer three and  ... well you get the picture. Refer enough friends and family and your membership is free. For more information, please contact front desk or member service.

What happens if I lose or damage my membership card?
We need to see your membership key tag card in order to check you into the gym. The  Monster Gym address is printed on membership card and it’s recommended that you attach the it to your car keys. If you lose your card, hopefully someone will drop them in the mail and we’ll notify you when they arrive at the Club. You MUST report all lost or stolen cards to the front desk to avoid unauthorized people from using your membership to gain access to the Club.  If your card wears out, we’ll replace it for free. If you lose your card then we will need to charge you a small replacement fee for a new card.

How do I find out what is going on at the gym?
The front desk staff always has information about club activities and events. We also post info on the club bulletin board. Another great way to stay in touch is to subscribe to our free monthly e-newsletter.
