What's the scoop with Kettlebells? I am interested in learning how to use them.

Hi Gary,

Kettlebells offer a great full body functional workout. Many of the exercises are “restorative” which means they strengthen problem areas such as low back, knees and shoulders. Since each exercise recruits multiple muscle groups, you’ll develop what we call “connected” or “functional strength”. This kind of strength applies very well to real life activities ranging from recreation to yard work, to picking up a child or a bag of dog food.

I tend to run the exercises together in a circuit fashion with 60 seconds rest intervals between each exercise which is very metabolic (fat burning). You’ll burn a ton of calories and develop both strength and cardio in the same workout. It’s fun and very time efficient.

Technique is very important so plan on checking out the Free Clinic tomorrow with Eric (Thursday, 2/4 at 9:30am) and/or my 4-week small group class ($96) that starts next Monday (2/8) at 12:15pm. Give me a call with any questions. I hope to see you at the class.

Cheers,
Mike
